Vasanta Group to beat £10,000 Cancer Research target
Vasanta Group employees are set to beat their £10,000 fundraising target for Cancer Research UK several months ahead of schedule.
With £6,600 already raised and another £3,000 due in soon, the business products wholesaler expects to significantly outperform the goal it set itself for 2013. In addition to an events programme, selected Schneider brand pens from Vasanta will be carrying the Cancer Research logo with a pound from every box sold in 2014 going to the charity. Colleagues in Ireland are playing their part by raising money for the Irish Cancer Society, with €2150 of the target €5000 Euros collected to date.
Among the initiatives Vasanta people have taken part in so far are the Three Peaks Challenge, Great North Run, Race for Life, a VOW golf day, sponsored waxing, a sky dive, car washing and a no-chocolate month.
Group HR Manager Sandra Charles and charity champions at Vasanta’s main locations in Sheffield, Normanton and Lutterworth are continuing to develop a programme of events including a children’s party and fancy dress day, Twelve Days of Christmas events and Cancer Research UK’s Dryathlon™ in January. Men will be growing moustaches for Movember with the proportion of funds raised from that going to the prostate and testicular cancer part of Cancer Research UK’s work.
Sandra Charles: “Cancer is a cause that affects many people and their families and Cancer Research UK was the overwhelming choice for charity of the year by Vasanta people. Fundraising has been fun, with the chance to win and buy things as well as donate. The amount raised is phenomenal and reflects the determination of everyone here to do something to make a difference. It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October and we are sure this will encourage many people to help bring the total even higher.”
